Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Works and Housing and MP for Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency, expressed disappointment and worry over the silence of clergy, imams, and traditional leaders regarding the parliamentary chaos caused by NDC minority MPs and Speaker Alban Bagbin.
He emphasized that the Supreme Court has already ruled on Speaker Bagbin’s decision regarding parliamentary majority and minority status. Therefore, Oppong Nkrumah urged clergy, imams, and chiefs to proactively condemn the happenings in parliament proactively.
Additionally, Oppong Nkrumah acknowledged NPP party faithfuls’ partial responsibility for the parliamentary issues due to low voter turnout in 2020.
He stated that “NPP party faithfuls are also partly to be blamed for the cause of the happenings in parliament because they refused to vote for their parliamentary candidates in 2020 whilst some even voted “skirt & blouse”, hence he has urged them not to repeat such mistake on December 7.
He cautioned against repeating this mistake on December 7.
Speaking at Akyemansa district’s 40th Farmers Day celebrations in Akyem Akokoaso, Eastern Region, Oppong Nkrumah appealed to Ofoase-Ayirebi constituents to vote for Dr. Bawumia and himself to continue NPP’s policies, such as Free SHS.
