The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Council of Elders has successfully intervened in the disputes between party executives and members in the Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
Victor Owusu, secretary to the Council of Elders, expressed confidence that the peace agreement brokered will have a lasting impact.
According to Owusu, the council’s approach of allowing all parties to air their grievances was crucial in achieving reconciliation. “I believe that this resolution will be permanent because we gave the opportunity to the feuding parties to pour out their grievances,” he said.
Hon George Akom, Parliamentary Candidate for the Constituency, praised the Council’s timely intervention.
Constituency Chairman Hon Rufai Zakaria admitted to the charges and accusations leveled against him and assured the council of his commitment to unite the party.
The resolution of these disputes is a significant step towards strengthening the NPP’s presence in the Sekyere Afram Plains. With the party’s unity restored, they can now focus on securing vital votes in the upcoming elections.
