Dr Bawumia Spearheads The Establishment Of The First-Ever Islamic TVET Institute In Ghana

Dr Alhaji Mahamudu BAWUMIA, vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party has facilitated the establishment by law , the first Islamic TVET Institute in the Tano North District.

The Muslim society has had this on the agenda for many years and as part of the flagbearer’s commitment to making education in the Zongos Across the country competitive, he set out by the blessing of his Boss, the President and proposed first and foremost, the ZONGO development Fund which was implemented by the government.

The Zongo Development Fund has so far seen the construction of several classroom blocks, provision of learning materials, Construction of drainage systems, clinics, Astroturfs across most of the Zongos in the country.

Additionally,  several scholarships have been given to tertiary students locally and internationally with 40 Zongo indigenes currently at their 4th year in medical school at Cuba.

Again, he has led the construction of hostels and training centers for vulnerable women from across the country but predominantly from the Northern part of the country who migrate to the south in search of greener pastures only to find themselves in the business of head potting in the cities amidst the ramifications of the recent global economic hardships.

So far, six (6) cohorts numbering some over four thousand (4000) beneficiaries have graduated and have been equipped with resources including cash assistance to take up the various skills they studied at the training centers.

The latest is his relentless effort that has led to the establishment of the FIRST EVER ISLAMIC TVET institute in Ghana which is located in the Tano North District in the Ahafo Region.

In a letter sighted as attached, the Director General of TVET Ghana has officially written to the institute capturing the relevant quotations of the necessary legislative instrument within which the institute has been absorbed and with the processes precedent to the  appointment of a Principal and a Board of Governors for the running and oversight of the school.

This means that, students in this institution would now benefit from the Government’s free TVET policy that entails the full absorption of tuition fees, free learning materials, free feeding, school uniforms and a rigorous infrastructure development.
