NAHSAG Launches Pinktober In Grand Style

The National Health Students’ Association of Ghana (NAHSAG) proudly launched its highly anticipated Breast Cancer Awareness campaign on Saturday, 5th October 2024, at the prestigious College of Health and Wellbeing in Kintampo. This momentous occasion was held under the inspiring theme “Life Reimagined: Shaping a Future Beyond Breast Cancer.”

 

 

The well-attended event brought together a diverse group of distinguished guests, including:

● Naa Zakaria Baki (V), esteemed President of the Dagomba House of Chiefs
●The Honourable Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kintampo North
●Mr. Shaibu, seasoned Public Health Officer
● Dedicated Nurses and Midwives
●Other esteemed health practitioners
●Enthusiastic students from various tertiary and second-cycle institutions.

 

 

Addressing the audience, Naa Zakaria Baki (V), leader of the Dagomba House of Chiefs, urged attendees to prioritize their health, emphasizing its significance as the foundation for growth and development.

Mr. Shaibu, Public Health Officer, offered valuable advice, encouraging attendees to eat a balanced diet,engage in regular exercise, avoid excessive use of oral contraceptives, which increases the risk of developing breast cancer.

This launch marked the commencement of a comprehensive series of activities slated for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, featuring:

●Comprehensive health education programs
●Free screening services
● Community walks to promote awareness
●Confidential counselling sessions

In the lead-up to the launch, NAHSAG conducted pre-launch radio sensitization programs on Zone FM (Bono East Region) and ASH FM (Ashanti Region), effectively engaging the community and generating excitement for the campaign.

The event culminated with the Women’s Commissioner, executives of the association, dignitaries, and students present symbolically bursting the Cancer ribbon balloon, signifying their collective commitment to fighting breast cancer.
