The Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Youth Director for the Ahafo Region, Pastor Emmanuel Kusi Appiah, has encouraged members of the church to let their faith guide their decision on whether to participate in voting or not.
This comes after an earlier statement from the SDA church indicating they would not vote on Election Day because it coincides with their Sabbath.
Speaking at an SDA peace campaign in Mim, located in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region, Pastor Kusi clarified that the church is not opposed to voting.
However, church administrators have been instructed not to prohibit any member from casting a ballot. Ultimately, it is up to individual church members to choose whether or not to cast a ballot, in light of their beliefs.
Notably, the church will not open its premises that serve as polling stations to avoid disrupting the sanctity of the Sabbath.
The event brought together political parties, religious leaders, associations, and other stakeholders to advocate for peace during the electoral process.
Pastor Emmanuel Kusi Appiah took advantage of the occasion to promote peace in the run-up to the general elections.
