Secondary Education Turned Voting Machine In Ghana – KEEA MP Reveals

The Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Constituency in the Central Region, Hon. Samuel Atta-Mills has shared worry over the current state of the country’s secondary education.
According to him, Ghana’s present secondary educational landscape has been turned into a voting machine under the ruling New Patriotic Party’s governance.
Hon. Samuel Atta-Mills has uncovered that the Free SHS policy initiated by the NPP wasn’t introduced practically to attend to the enrollment deficiency in the country, but to aid the party score cheap political points.
He made this assertion at the Komenda College of Education where he presented a 43-inch television to the college through its Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) executives upon a request.
The KEEA MP recounted the stress he often goes through with Free SHS when students posted from his constituency doesn’t get the opportunity to be boarding students at their various secondary schools.
He emphasized that the initiation of the Free SHS wasn’t a bad idea, only that it was implemented in a wrong way and by non other than Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the current Minister of Energy and running mate for NPP in the 2024 general election who was then the Minister of Education.
